Technical Estimator

Job Title: Technical Estimator Location: Clark About the Role We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Estimator to join our team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive quotes for laser cutting projects, working closely with the sales, engineering, and production teams to ensure estimates align with production capabilities and customer requirements. Key Responsibilities Interpret technical drawings, CAD files, and specifications to develop accurate cost estimates for laser cutting jobs. Analyse material types, thicknesses, tolerances, and finishing requirements to determine cutting times and material usage. Prepare and issue detailed and competitive quotations using estimating software and internal pricing tools. Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to clarify requirements and ensure feasibility. Maintain and update estimating data, pricing structures, and supplier rates regularly. Work with the production team to understand capacity, lead times, and optimisation opportunities. Provide technical advice to customers and assist in developing cost-effective manufacturing solutions. Identify cost-saving opportunities through efficient material nesting and process planning. Assist in project handover to production, ensuring clear communication of scope, specifications, and pricing. Key Requirements Proven experience in an estimating role within the laser cutting or metal fabrication industry. Strong understanding of laser cutting processes, materials (e.g., mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium), and tolerances. Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and CAD files (e.g., DXF, DWG). Familiarity with nesting and estimating software is an advantage High attention to detail and strong numerical and analytical skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Solid computer skills, including MS Excel and ERP systems.
