Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced Residential Estimator with sales and production stage estimating for new residential builds: single storey, double storey, split level and duplex homes. The role prepares initial estimates / quotations, moving to contract-stage tenders that the build is contracted on, so accuracy at any point is critical. Once a job moves through to production estimating, it is too late to correct the sales number. This is a hands-on residential estimating role, not a commercial or high-rise position. The detail sits in residential quantities such as brick veneer wall framing, floor tiling, sanitaryware and roof flashings rather than large scale structural steel and concrete construction. Candidates with a drafting background who can read residential plans confidently and work through estimating software have proven a strong fit for this type of role. Key Responsibilities: Estimating Prepare sales-stage estimates for single storey, double storey, split level and duplex home designs. Read and interpret Australian residential house plans accurately. Complete take-offs and quantity measurements across all residential trades and materials. Work within the Stroud Homes estimating systems and software to produce consistent, reliable numbers. Maintain accuracy at the contract price stage so downstream production estimating reconciles cleanly. Shift into production estimating for full site construction quantities and trade requirements Communicate with trades and suppliers confidently about supply, rates or invoices. Coordination Work day to day with the team over Microsoft Teams, including an always-on channel if preferred. Raise queries and exceptions early rather than working around them. Follow the Stroud Homes estimating process and standards as trained, with more frequent contact during the initial training period. Requirements: Residential estimating or drafting background. Able to read residential plans and produce accurate quantities. A drafting qualification with estimating experience is well suited to this role. Experience with estimating or take-off software used in Australian residential construction. Strong numeracy and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Strong communication skills, able to speak and write fluently in English, and confident dealing directly with an Australian team. Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and Outlook. Experience supporting an Australian builder, or exposure to Australian residential construction standards, is an advantage. Personal Attributes High level of professionalism and a strong work ethic.
