The Department of Information Technology and Innovation (ITI) traces its roots back to 1982, when the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Institute of Systems Engineering was established under the advocacy of Academician Zhang Zhongjun and with the approval of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Science and Technology. Over the years, ITI faculty have remained deeply grounded in China’s managerial practices while engaging with cutting-edge scientific questions. Their research spans technology-driven business innovation, big data analytics, decision-support systems, green innovation and management, corporate strategy, and entrepreneurship. The department has also built a vibrant academic platform for dialogue and collaboration, regularly inviting distinguished scholars from China and abroad to deliver lectures and seminars. Over the years, ITI has nurtured a large cohort of outstanding postdoctoral fellows, Ph.D. candidates, and master’s students, many of whom have gone on to become key contributors to social and economic development. ITI currently has 19 full-time faculty members, including 7 professors, 9 associate professors, and 3 assistant professors. Among them, 8 hold Ph.D. degrees from overseas institutions, 2 national high-level talents, and 3 Shanghai high-level talents. Faculty research has been published in leading international journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Information Systems Research, INFORMS Journal on Computing, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Marketing, Management Science, Marketing Science, MIS Quarterly, and Production and Operations Management. Several faculty members also serve as associate editors or editorial board members of top-tier international journals.
