Director, External Communications - Product and Corporate

Overview Okta is hiring a Director of External Communications to lead its U.S. PR strategy, media relations, and team leadership. The role focuses on positioning Okta as the standard for securing AI through product and corporate storytelling. Responsibilities - Drive the strategy and execution of Okta’s U.S. public relations program - Design and lead integrated media campaigns tied to product and corporate milestones - Own media relations across business, technology, cybersecurity, newsletters, podcasts, and creator-journalists - Lead, mentor, and develop a team of PR professionals and manage agency partners - Align with executive leadership, product, security, and marketing teams - Champion AI-driven tools and workflows to improve PR speed, quality, and measurement Requirements - 15+ years of experience in public relations or communications - Significant in-house experience at a B2B technology company preferred - Demonstrated experience leading and developing PR teams - Deep, active relationships across modern media - Strong written and verbal communication skills - Experience with AI, automation, or emerging technologies in communications - Experience operating across regions and with international teams Benefits - Equity may be available - Bonus eligible - Health, dental, and vision insurance - 401(k) - Flexible spending account - Paid leave including PTO and parental leave - Annual base salary range for San Francisco Bay Area: $229,000 to $315,000 USD Source https://okta.com/company/careers/opportunity/7834352?gh_jid=7834352
